Weert, Netherlands 31st of March 2015 – The leading Dutch travel technology company Pyton and global leisure bedbank Lowcostbeds have entered into a partnership on integration of Lowcostbeds’ accommodation content into Pyton’s virtual tour operating environment. The connectivity is as of today launched and accessible in Pyton’s dynamic packaging platform Waverunner Smart Shopping and its virtual tour operating software.
Lowcostbeds Swiss-based Lowcostbeds recently celebrated its tenth year as a global, independent, trade-only bed bank. Established in 2004, it has signed up 42,000 agents globally, giving access to a vast range of accommodations from around the world. Lowcostbeds operates in over 50 countries worldwide, and has content translated in 13 languages. Amadeus IT Group, the leading technology provider to the travel industry, has announced that it has acquired Pyton Communications BV., the leisure travel technology specialist. Pyton, which develops and sells online booking engines for the global travel industry, a leader in the leisure travel sector with her Waverunner product where her customers include both online and offline travel agents. In addition her ‘Smart Shopping’ online dynamic packaging product positions the company well in a key development area for the industry.

Pyton, which has been in partnership with Amadeus Benelux in the leisure travel sector since early 2013, has also enabled travel agents to broaden their offering to include the key Low Cost Carrier segment with the Elsy Arres solution. “The leisure segment is an increasingly important industry for Amadeus and the addition of Pyton’s product and deep management expertise will give us the opportunity to improve our offering to our customers and help them develop their business.” Said Luc Pannecoeck, General Manager Amadeus Benelux. “Pyton’s products are scalable and can be customized to suit the needs of different markets, and will enable us to strengthen our business beyond the Netherlands, which is a technologically advanced market.” “The acquisition is good news for the travel industry in Benelux which is very dynamic and evolving at a fast pace,” said Peter Boneschansker, CEO of Pyton. “By bringing together the expertise and products of Amadeus and Pyton we will have all the right tools to meet the challenges of the changing market and serve the industry better than ever.”

Following the acquisition, Luc Pannecoeck has been nominated as Managing Director of Pyton, next to his responsibilities of General Manager Amadeus Benelux. Peter Boneschansker will continue to lead Pyton as General Manager, reporting to Luc. Pyton serves a wide range of online and offline customers in the region including Cheaptickets, Fareportal and D-RT Group (D-Reizen and VakantieXperts). It has a workforce of 31 employees based in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
